394
« on: September 27, 2016, 02:39:07 pm »
Local logger offered me a 394  PHO.

Started having starting issues when shut off when hot.

He is buying a 2188 and said tired of fighting this one. Had a hole in left side bar oil tank and patched too. Otherwise ran great he said till the hot start issues.

She looks rough.

Whats the norm on a used runner PHO?

Wonder if it could be a coil?  ((during warm weather it is hard to start after you've run it.))

He said this. So I am thinking not a coil. Carb kit maybe impulse etc. Watcha you all think.

((No it stays running fine until you shut it off then go to restart and it wont when hot

I've had it I've replaced the rim sprocket, air filter and filter cover (has the 395 style).during warm weather if is hard to start after you've run it.i just don't want to put anymore money in because got my eye on a new one.))

Know the bar that is going on this after I check it over.

36"   Tsumura     I am calling a 37" bar that I have here  (longer then my 36" echo 116DL bar). They show as a 36" bar 119DL / 120DL  in the D009 mount. 3/8 .063   A013.

37" Tsumura 119DL have a new 063 full skip and the used full comp chains.

Guess if I cant handle the weight of it I'll sell or trade off the package later.

Something to be said about the phenomena of 'muscle memory'. I can still pick up a 2100 and use it all day....and I'm in my 60's.

I do want a 394 however....something most similar in free revving & torque to the 2100/2101's that I used loggin' back in the day.  I'm tired of paying crazy prices for worn 2100 parts....ridiculous.

Does the tank vent check out ok? If it does I would be looking to get another coil. Sounds like some of the same problems I had with the one I did a thread on a while back. If you do buy another coil try and get an oem. Had problems with the aftermarket one I bought.

I've met a few fallers who swung 2100-36" Huskies on the BC coast 6 1/2 hours a day . Super skinny guys who you'd think would have a hard time starting it. But try follow them walking through the bush and you quickly see how strong they are.
But like so many of them with one shoulder injury they were out of a job. If they were lucky enough they may have enough in them to be able to buck at the landing.

My brother who collects saws has a 2100 that never had fuel in it with original box and all.

Just to heavy for my liking. 18lb 6.4oz PHO  Whats the norm used price on these, guessing $300-$500. They seem to be alot cheaper to buy then the 066 660 I used to own.  This one was asking $300 and then $250.

I side stepped it for a home repair that happened and comes first , it is just to heavy JMO too.  If you want me to check into it for you PM me.

So I wont get to see what the problem was.  Like figuring out what ails them though.

leached pic of another from weight threads.

I like my 395XP way better then my 066Mag. Haven't touched my 066 since buying the 395 seven  years ago. 395 has way more power and smoother and don't notice the weight when the dogs are set in the wood anyways.
