Replacing Husqvarna 61 rubber mounts ?
« on: March 17, 2015, 06:44:33 pm »
Bought the saw brandnew over 30 years ago, the front rubber vibration dampner things are wore out and need replacing, is this a job I could do myself ?  Any special tools needed ?  Maybe there is a thread about this already on this board but I couldn't find it.  Thanks for any help

Just digging up info.

They require a special slotted tool or skinny needle nose pliers to install.

Not for units with metal tanks.  http://www.baileysonline.com/Chainsaw-Parts/Chainsaw-Handlebars-AV-Mounts/NWP-Anti-Vibration-Mounts-for-Husqvarna-Chainsaws/Anti-Vibration-Mount-Set-for-Husqvarna-61-272.axd

aftermarket / 4 small (Item No 1836) mounts and 2 large (Item No 1835) mounts. -

Husqvarna 61, 66, 162, 266, 268, 272
Jonsered 625, 630, 670
Replaces Part Numbers 501 62 87 01 and 501 69 94-01

Bent needle nose pliers have always worked for me. IMO the 45deg ones have always worked best.

Generally, you can go by the rule that metal tanks take the fine thread mounts, and plastic tanks take the coarse thread mounts. But the earliest plastic tanks in this saw family had thread inserts and took the same mounts as the metal tanks.

Just another one of those lessons I learned over the years by giving someone the wrong parts. LOL
