OK MY Bad, my saw is a older 55 rancher not the 455 , was having a senior moment I guess
so that could explain the  wrong fuel PDF

LOL that explains why.   I was showing IPL's for the 455 you ask about originally. Least you figured it out that you had a 55.  8)

OK the vent is just pushed in, how do you get it out to replace it
and Yes the dealer I was talking to kept telling me how the 455 replaced the 55, so guess I had that in my head when I started this,

but thanks for the help so far much appreciated

and last can the vent be removed without dis assembling the tank??, like as is, and just either pull or push it out some how??
 thanks again

There are two parts to the vent.

First, there is the black tube that extends to the opposite side of the gas tank to prevent spills.

Then second, there is a little filter disk that fits in the outlet of the vent. This disk is easy to get out with a scribe or ice pick.

There should not be any reason to need to remove the tube? They are hard to get out because there is almost no way to get a hold on it.

Some later model chainsaws did not have the filter disk but had a plastic elbow with a tubing nipple on its end. The tubing went up inside the carb air box area into a loop and then connected to a nipple in the bottom of the carb air box that exited to the outside.

OK so to remove I have to pick out the disk then first and then I am guessing push the tube out then??

and if mine is an older one(made in 2002 I believe ) then it would be in the air box instead??
thanks again for the help

Husqvarna 51 55  IPL   http://s30387.gridserver.com/partsDiagrams/Husqvarna%2051%20and%2055.pdf

Looks like it is on the rear right side of tank area.

The ones with the tube that goes up into the carb area would be 455's recently made.

All the 55's had the little air filter disk. This may be felt, foam, or some type of porous plastic?

When you pluck the little filter disk out, you can see the part of the black tube where the little filter fits but there is nothing to grab onto to get it out of there?

Normally you cannot get to any of this for it is in the top right hand side of the gas tank between the gas tank and the rest of the chainsaw.

Loosen rear av mounts, out with tank lid, Angled pliers to grab the plastic tube with and push it out. Filter too...

I doubt that is the case tough. I think it is a carb/fuel issue.

You should have pressure in tank. It is natural and correct. Pinch the fuel line and as you take it of inlet and release it should squirt 30cm or more out on bench when there is pressure.
To get pressure you wiggle it from side to side a few times, 5-8...
I do that on start up of all Elux saws, saves a bunch of pulls.

OK magnus
the saws runs pretty good right now, maybe a tad high on idle, but its winter here now, so colder air always sems to do that here on a summer setting once wamed up

but this saw did this before, leaking from tank when put down for the day or even a few minutes
and last time I believe the dealer changed this filter and it solved the problem, thus why I am leaning to it being the issue

I don't see how the carb would cause enough pressure for gas to be pushing out on the cap/ past o ring
the filter being blocked or faulty doesn't really either to be honest  but can see how it not breathing can build up extra pressure I guess

so what carb issue do you think would cause the gas to blow out then??
