455 shrank?
« on: November 22, 2018, 12:26:59 am »
I have a really strange situation. My 455 has a 20 inch bar, 55 links.  All of a sudden the chain is super loose. No matter what I do I can't get it tight. Took it to 2 shops and they both can't figure out what happened. They suggested I take a link out of my chain. Tried brand new chain and it was too loose. Can't figure out what changed. ::)

455 comes with 20" 3/8 72 drive link here.

Running dull chain and lack of oiling stretches them some.

I did have a guy come in with 455 that had a chain that stretched to far.  I took a link out of his to make it 71 drive links for a back up chain.

Pic of your bar and chain. Wonder if you somehow put a 70DL 20" bar on by mistake?

I don't think I changed bars but I'm not sure. I'll definitely check that.
