51 recoil spring
« on: February 19, 2017, 12:55:26 am »
Hey all, my pull start rope pulled out and stayed out.  I took off the cover and wound it back up and then was winding it to gain tension but I can hear the spring slipping or jumping off underneath the spool and it will never build up enough tension.  Something must be broken underneath the black plastic between the spring and spool I am guessing??  Don't want to pop it off if it's going to go everywhere haha.  Thanks again in advance!

Cut the rope handle off and slowly release the tension off the spring. Once it is done. Check and remove the pulley etc.

IMO you have nothing to worry about since the 51 is encases in plastic.  Not like my last poulan that spring got away on a 365.

Looks like $6-$10
