Most likely a 45mm then, going by your readings.  If it will clean up, I would put it back in service.  That's a good looking 55 you got there.  I've only rebuilt a couple of them, but were the open port which still made good power.  Certainly enough for cutting wood.  Be sure your plastic bulkhead (divider),  is in good shape.  Had to replace both on the ones I redone.

Theres no question that being a closed port.  But what puzzles me is you said it measured 44mm!  I would think it ought to be 45mm.  I don't think the 44mm 51's were closed port.  Sawtroll would know.

Yes, obviously a closed port.

As far as I know Mahle 44ZN15++++++ is compatible with a 45 mm 44ZN15, that was used on those closed port 55s. However, I don't know if it excludes all 44 mm versions. A5 and/or W3 may have something to do with the bore size.

The "original" 44ZN15 was the 44 mm Partner P5000 cylinder.

I don't think the 44mm 51s were closed port either, but I don't remember the source of that info...

I measured the cylinder with my inside calipers and I got 4.5.075 inch

Measured the piston and got 4.5.070

.....

I fail to understand those measurements?

That can't be the diameter though - did you actually measure the circumference, and not the diameter?

I was using my calibers and measured from one side to the other so was the diameter not the radis . Same with the bore from one side to the other.

Need I do a picture, I can as it is pretty cold today. Really just right for wood splitting. Did some yesterday after noon and they were sure popping so easy.
