husqvarna 55 missing
« on: October 18, 2021, 07:15:16 am »
My 55 husky, when first started, is cutting out but I can pull the choke and shut it while it is running and then it runs fine. Any ideas?

Not knowing history of past saw. I'm thinking time for a carb rebuild, impulse grommet, fuel line and fuel filter. 🤷‍♂️

I have owned the saw for probably 20 years. I usually change the fuel filter at least once a year. What carb kit should I buy. I want a oem if I can find one

Depends on carb.  Also that little impulse tube is a air leak area waiting to happen when it cracks.  But can try carb kit first.
Also dont over tighten carb intake etc. Prone to strip and air leak there too.

Which carb?
Walbro WT-170
ZAMA C1Q-EL6, C1Q-EL7

Kits
K20-WAT for Walbro
RB-45 for Zama

So I put a kit in my 55s carb today. Now it will start and die start and die. I finally got it to run by holding the choke open just a little. What is the problem now. I cleaned out the carb good with compressed air the installed all new gaskets.

Did you replace the impulse grommet while taking the stuff apart.  It's part of the must do on the old saw.

I replaced all the gaskets in the carb. I also cleaned the carb out with compressed air. It ran ok before now it will only run with the choke closed a little

You rebuilt the carb.  Get in there and check things.  Also seen folks use wrong parts in the kits that didnt match what they take out.

OK then you didnt replace a very important piece when you had this saw down. = Impulse grommet.  Known to go bad from age.  Carb even after a fresh rebuild wont get pulse right if grommet is messed up from age.  Couple bucks.
