570 Husky

Have to split the case on a 570 to put new bearings in. Any ideas how to split the case. Old Husky case splitter won't work as the 570 has the full circle crank. Can get a Stihl splitter for $200. Kind of steep for 1 job. Heat and hammer the only other option?

Art when you say full circle crank do you mean the 570's crankshaft journals are completely round not half circle? I have only seen these full circle cranks in motorcycle and kart engines. Also modified racesaws have them installed for extra performance and durability.

Yes they are like the 357. Not easy to explain. It has a standard type crank but with covers that fit over the weights making it fully enclosed. IPL shows it better than I can explain it. No place for the old Husky splitter to drop into the case.

Art I didnt have a splitter for my last 365 crankcase. I just used rubber hammer and punch that fit center of crank and vise with covered jaws.

The bells on the crankshaft shouldn't come into play on splitting and removal on our redneck ways. Least in my pea brain I aint thinking of why they would right now.

Here is the 570 and 575XP IPL   page 13 for crankshaft  http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/HIPL/HIPL2005/HIPL2005_5440819-01.pdf

I had traded for this new 570 one time that was only used for a stock saw competition in TN.
