I agree that 3/8 is faster, and all of my firewood saws run it. Pulp and logging saws however get .325 chain and the shortest, lightest bar that suits the wood.
Exactly and the underpowered 53cc Rancher 55 get's the best performance as SawTroll says with the narrow .325
