Here in central Canada back in the last days before mechanical harvesting came in the early '90s, in our logging camps the saws were Jonsereds 630-670, Husqvarna 268- 272XP, Stihl 34-044-064 all from 16" to 20" b/c. Equal ammount pulp and sawlogs.
In our long winters [winters were alot colder back then] our timber was frozen solid, took a 60cc saw to cut it with authority , 034 was for pulp in the summer.
Around 1987 a engineer from Stihl's German factory, Yurgon Wolfe was his name, he came at the dead of winter and he was surprised we weren't running  50cc or smaller saws in our small timber. We took him to the frozen logs in the landing, he tried a cut with a sharp 034 we had on site. He couldn't believe how tough the cut was, he said that was the first time he saw frozen solid logs.
Changed his way of thinking quick. :D

Old Iron have you tried a 550XP yet?
Making a living with a saw since age 16.
