Sawtroll I donot see how .325 is going to give him any better cutting speed , 3/8's is faster period , end of story , even on the crap 40cc huskys 3/8's is faster as long as you know how to file . Cutting in the bush even on saws like a 385 I only run 7 tooth , hell on the farms 660 it runs a 7 tooth cause the 8 pin sure heats the hell out of the motor in those big 5 foot in diameter hardwood cuts , You guys have no idea on how many times I have been told a 8 pin is faster on a saw like a 372 when the guy is falling timber , then show him its not , biggest thing is most guys chain is not sharp so they start pushing on it , make the chain sharp is the biggest thing you can do to cut faster , if you think a new chain out of the box is sharp then believe me its not even close to what it can be and that goes for round filed to
I agree with you 110% Ed. I like the 3/8  7 on everything. You sharpen the tooth to match your saw....

Yes, but the consensus is the majority of the saw population is factory stock. ;)

Holmen put a stop watch to your stock stuff.
These guys have spent countless hours studying chain and every other chainsaw thing known to man,325 is out the door.

Only reason I was thinking try a 8T on  562 was if it was used  for limbing.  Of course he probably dont switch back and forth like some of us  ;D

Thats what it is most likely will be an advantage for. The only way to really know, is of course to try the different options.  ;D

I agree that 3/8 is faster, and all of my firewood saws run it. Pulp and logging saws however get .325 chain and the shortest, lightest bar that suits the wood.

Exactly and the underpowered 53cc Rancher 55 get's the best performance as SawTroll says with the narrow .325

Its not a performance issue for me, but rather a weight/handling one. All my saws with .325 ran 8 tooth rims, even 242/246 Husky. An typical day was 120 trees on the ground. 50-100 limbs per tree. 8 tooth ruled.

Sorry, everything I compare to is firewood or 8,10 or 12 inch on a stand, limbing means nothing to me, when I drop a tree its only 20 to 30 branches and I go in full bore waving the saw around. I'm done in under ten minutes on 100 foot maple tree, and remember stuff in side loaded and moving, constantly trying to pinch your saw.No conifers here.
Maybe 325 is faster in that, but I dont have time to change configurations, besides 1 gauge of chain in a 18,20 and 24 length are priceless. Its all you need.

Besides I dont know how you see into that small stuff to even get an edge, you need magnifying glasses.

I can't anymore. Takes me longer to focus on the tooth than to file now. Saws are just for play now anyway.
