air filters
« on: March 14, 2012, 12:24:01 pm »
need a few replacement air filters on various Husky saws and I'm wondering, is everybody sticking with the  original mesh style or is there a flocked variant?
I'm noticing a bit of sawdust buildup inside a 346 filter body and am a little concerned.

The mesh ones do let a little bit of fines through at times I have noticed. The flocked I think they call felt are more restrictive but stop the fine stuff.

I think there is 2 different mesh sizes like coarse and fine and then the flocked.  Can remember part numbers.

Also I think there is twist on and snap on.

I ran a 3400 Poulan for 15 years....HARD, so filters don't really mean squat to me!

There is quite a bit difference in the Nylon/felt/paper filters.
The nylon take abuse and moisture better as it lets it thru, but also let thru more.
How important that is I can't say, really...
Usually there are other things are more important to advice and correct first before this become a issue.

From what I've read the yellow one is the best all around.  That's what I run on mine.
