The small get togethers are a lot of fun and easy enough to organize.

 Thats hotstart racing with saw on ground with hands on cant.  I've done that at fair racing.

Use full 3/8  square  stihl RSLK or Oregon CL for a little quicker work chain.
Test with 7-8 rims.  One might be faster in 1 cut like 8, but when you are doing change overs and 2-3 cuts the more forgiven one is the one I choose like a 7.  Like when you start pushing to hard in the heat of the moment in 2-3 cuts.
Muffler mod and carb tune.
If you want to  start getting crazy, woods port the cylinder.

Practice practice practice changeovers another place to cut big time off your cuts and listen to your motor and keep in the top rpm cutting.

For you guys talking about stihl and oregon chain cutting speeds. I tested cut speeds of stock chains and machine grinded and atop square guide filed chain. I dont think I had a fresh loop of LG to try. The atop chain was oregon LP 058 goofy and square filed and then my 30 min square atop filed.

I was a little disappointed in my round grinder results I tested for fun too.

I found a nice clean 10"x10" very dry poplar cant in the barn that has been there for well over a year now.

Saw was a 357xp 7T running 93 octane 32:1 and a rich 13.8k. 3 cuts per chain, which allowed for the unseen knot hit and operator error in some of the times.

Chains were work chains tested.

I know factory sharp chains are not the sharpest out of the box, but I wanted to have a base to go off of. So RSLK, RSLHK, CL, RS, factory sharp were tested.

I was told by someone that a chain that is almost wore out is the best for a saw race is this true? One file back almost to the witness marks i think thats what you call them and im not at all familiar with  any kind of chain filing but round file lol I use 7/32

Am I on the right path or is this a throw away chain?
