Chainsaw Repair

this is what I started with. owner tried to clean it up a small amount and then tried to weld the tang back on. didn't work, lost the broken piece, brought it to me for something that would work other than a $400 repair bill from dealer.


cut and welded a couple of 120thou thick pieces together to make a bracket. drilled and tapped the holes for the screws, welded both brackets to the spike for added strength:



locked everything in place with jb weld:


bolt everything up, wait for jb weld to cure, and throw saw back together:

it was sitting in the back of the truck and got hit by a chunk of wood being tossed in. was lent out when it happened.

Sorry to be drifting off-topic here..............but I found this pic while searching for the 'thumbs up' pic in my above post.



Am I the only one that's genuinely impressed (instead of just amused) by this guy's auto AC solution?  I think it's awesome (although probably a bit loud with that genny running on the decklid).  Also digging his tail light retrofit.  I'll bet it get's nice and COLD in there with that bad boy running...
