Carburetor question
« on: November 27, 2016, 07:31:35 pm »
Does a Walbro wj 118-1 from a 390 have larger jets than a RWJ-4b from an X-torq 372? Is it possible to blend either an old Tillotson from the 385's or a WJ 118 to an 372 X-torq?? Put together a junk pile saw with a tweaked top end. On the X-torq's carb it wants to have the adjusters out like 1.75 turns...thinking I would like to explore a carb option that can deliver more fuel.

It idles at 2660-2700 and has a nice four stroke  rap at around 14,200

The rwj jets are easily drilled if I remember right. I have both and I'll open them up and take pictures in a few days

You have to run the 385 boot so the cylinder end of the boot will be closer to the right size

The WJ stuff mounts the carb mounting bolts at a angle

Use the WJ carb mounting screws for the carb is longer

Must use a filter elbow from the XT because the mounting bolts are twisted at a angle.

I'm using the xtorq carb son real hot 7900s with no starving issues. The L is out a good bit but they gained a lot over the stock size carb

It's hard to see but there is a divider plate in the X-torq carb that separates the top of the venturi from the bottom. Some people remove this partition.

You have to take out the choke or throttle butterfly shaft to get it out.

They idle better with it in. Here's the WJ118 and Tilly 296 insides. I can't find a rwj.
