« on: May 08, 2016, 10:34:51 pm »
DDave has New 288 PC on Feebay was looking @ pics.  Pic of cyl has Koblesmidt marking box says made in Brazil.  I thought KS cyls. were on early model 288.  Cyl. also has decomp port. I have a 288 on the project list if this is a true KS I might spring even tho it's $.  Have a new tank, hitop cover kit, starter, piston (several NOS)all I'm missing is a cyl.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/222079827626?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

They may have went back to them for their cylinders for those.

Husqvarna and Stihl seem to be using the different cylinder factories interchangeably right now.
I deal a lot more Stihl stuff and I have noticed the last several batched of the MS660 OEM cylinders have different marking from each other but are all coming out of the KS factory evern though they were almost exclusively Mahle for quite awhile.

Jason said the numbers on the most recent batch of the KS660 cylinders were the best he has ever seen for building a ported saw, something about a thicker base that allows the machining to be alot more effective.

He explains stuff to me like I am a kindergartener but I just don't have the basic engine knowledge to make use of the info beyond being glad the parts are good for what he is doing :)

The very most recent jugs from KS for the 660 has sort of soft mushy markings on the cylinder itself but much bolder marks on the piston. I guess the inside is what matters, they probably don't realize that us chainsaw fanatics actually notice this stuff :)

I just got the 288 OEM jugs in very recently.

As far as I know, there currently is a KS factory in Brazil, that at least make top ends for some of the Husky saws made in the same country.
I wouldn't be surprised if they also make top ends for Brazilian made Stihl models as well.

The cylinder in the linked up Ebay ad is clearly marked KS.
