The only really good saw (that I know of)in the Craftsman Professional series was marketed maybe 10 years ago. It was a Remax/Zenoah. It's yellow and black, has the caps at the rear of the saw, a very small switch left of the handle. I don't remember the model number off-hand. It's a 40cc saw. I worked the hell out of mine and it's a true Pro grade saw.

IMO here is another good craftsman  chainsaw. Made by Solo

The 651 in craftsman colors I passed on.  Was  $85 and didnt need or want at the time.  30min  1 way drive was main reason.

Yes, it was the yellow one. Mac, Ryobi, and Troy Bilt also had this Redmax in their colors. What model number did Craftsman put on the Solo rebadge?

I prefer the older professional use Craftsman saws.8)

-Aaron

For older saws:
Tune the H side so that it 4-strokes (burbles) at WOT unloaded and just cleans up when under load.
When you lift cutting load, the saw should immediately revert to 4-stroking.  Fine tune the transition point for the wood you're cutting.

Yes, that looks to be a 445. Kevin, you are REAL good digging this stuff up. Doesn't look too bad in those colors either. The other saw in the middle of the second link is the 435/440. The first is the 240.

20" bar is a bit of a stretch on that saw, but Sears has always put excessively long bars on saws. I remember them putting 18" bars on the little Poulan 2300's and saying "cuts down trees up to 36" in diameter!"
