Well whatever is,is .It just seems in my pea brained mind that those of metric persuasion would manufacture items in even increments of MM's .

Now in the broad scheme of things other than saw parts often times metric stuff is taylored to replace SAE sized stuff .For example 12.7 MM concrete anchors to replace 1/2" etc .

You know it all goes back to the 80's when they tried to cram metric down our throats which went over about as popular as a turd in a punch bowl .Sure as time goes on they'll get it done but it won't happen over night .Nothing wrong with metric ,it's much more simple but it's hard to teach old dogs new tricks . ;)

You are exactly right on the 028s Al.
I never could remember crap and it just keeps getting worse.

It was the MS260 big cylinder that I was thinking about. 44.7mm.

And yes, I agree wholeheartedly that they should all build in even increments so it would be a lot easier to swap parts into saws they were never meant to fit!!! ;D

You get to swapping pistons you'd need a ware house full of stuff piled three feet high to figure out what would fit in what .

Years ago Easy Riders magazine had a list of a zillon Harley parts that would interchange .So far as I know nobody has ever compiled such a list for chainsaw engines .

A lot of that stuff is just acquired through people in the know who don't broadcast the info I suppose .Like 2.02 Chevy valves in a Ford 302  engine to name one of a zillion .

44.7 sounds familiar regarding the EPA 260.

The stroke also varies between the different "just over 50cc" models, fitting with the different bores of course.....
