I would buy original bolts whatever the cost, they are strong high quality bolts. Many hardware store bolts are fof the softest cheapest grade available. I go to an industrial suplly store that sells nuts and bolts and always get the best quality fasteners I can get for my own projects or any where top quality and stregth are desirable. Cheapo bolts have no rating or marks on the head. Grade 5 are a standard normal quality bolt, grade 8 are the most common high quality bolt easily obtained. One of the strongest are grade 12 bolts, super quality and strength, but not easy to find in the smaller fasteners. Some of the critical Factory bolts are high quality of grade 8 specs, fron Stihl Husky and Jonsered,a good example is the Torx screws used by Stihl, high strength, large head with locking teeth under the head.
Japanese and Asian fasteners are particularly weak and poor, some are sold as grade 8 with an 8.8 stamping on the head, but personally I think that is BS,they are soft and break easy.European fasteners with 8.8 on them are good.
For a critical application like holding your cylinder on I would go with factory or industrial quality bolts.
I also only use nylok nuts(Where heat wont melt the nylon),and hardened washers on all my personal projects. Some saws I replace the 5mm cyl. screws with 6mm.
And high quality industrial fasteners will cost no more than the cheap hardware store butter-bolts...
