Exhaust Deflector
« on: April 27, 2011, 09:32:00 am »
I remember a discussion where it was said the 288 exhaust deflectors were getting "pricey" & I think Kevin suggested an alternative..............well I'll be danged if I can find it. Does anyone know of it ????

I wouldn't mind knowing this either, I am getting ready to mod a 394 and need to purchase 2 of them. If there is a cheaper alternative I am always up for it.

If you were fairly handy with sheet metal it wouldn't be difficult to make .I've made them for the Stihls to add a second hole in the muff and there's nothing  to it .

I thought about doing this as well, I just have not got that far yet. And if I get them cheap enough I would probably order just for the convenience of things.

I ordered several of the deflector from my H dealer, but I bought a sheet of SS screen from McMaster-Carr for about $12. I think I can get something like 30 MM from it. That cuts the cost roughly in half. I did buy a piece of sheetmetal from Lowe's with the idea of bending my own but I have run out of the OEM deflectors.. It shouldn't be to hard to make something that is passable.
