Looking4firewood if your friend is looking in Craigslist then I would recommend any saw between 52cc to 60cc.

A lot of makes out there like Dolmar, Poulan, Husqvarna, and Stihl.  There are certain models within those makes that are better than others.  If you find a model post it here and most people here can tell you if good or bad.

Good advice Roger, as usual!

Wonder how a poulan 3500 60cc would compare to the 257?  257 has 2mm longer stroke, so I see torque for 257. But 3500 has 3mm bigger bore.

You running 3/8 or 325 on the 16"?

Got a 3500 here I've been through.

I have a couple of 257s and a Poulan 3000 and 3400CV. The Husqvarnas work great but as I get older I find myself going for the two Poulans more often! Kinda like those 'goat vomit' green saws!

Cut4fun, 3/8.  I run those on all of my saws except the Stihl 15AV.
