here's more pics of the piston. gotta feelin it's aftermarket. the person who put it together (and the person that opened it back up to 'clean' up the piston) must not have been using common sense and blindly followed the arrow in the wrong direction.

I'm not really sure what I see there, but the symbol close to the centre of that picture makes me think KolbenSchmidt (a S superimposed over a K?  ???

 it looks like a cross in a box, with the outer box missing a couple of areas, making the center cross look like an 's' sort of.
when I grow up, i wanna be an adult.
