Husky 340 cylinder kit on 40?
« on: November 05, 2016, 03:36:19 pm »
Just picked up a 40 (1988 version). Fixed this and that on it and it runs pretty good now. I saw a 42mm kit for a 340 for $39.95 and thought it would be a good upgrade if it fit.

Husqvarna 40 45 IPL http://www.husqvarna.com/ddoc/HUSI/HUSI1987_AAaa/HUSI1987_AAaa_I8700018_.pdf

Never had a 40 or 45 in my hands to say anything.

40 and 340 are two of the model numbers that Husky has used two times, but I assume the kit is for the newer one, that they started making around 1998, and not the one from the late 1970s.

If so, the stroke of the 340 is halv a mm longer than for your 40 (which is the second type, if made in 1988).

Apart from that I don't know if it fits, but most likely not, as the saws are very different.

What likely will fit is a kit for the 45 or 49, that was in the same "family" as your 40 - or any of the closely related Partner or Jonsered models.

Thanks. I guess Jonsereds would probably be  2040, 45.

Thanks. I guess Jonsereds would probably be  2040, 45.

Not 2040 (that was a Poulan made model), but 2041, 2045 and 2050.

The Partners were the P400 (the original design in the "family), P410, P450, P460, P490 and P510.

Then there were some brush-cutters etc. that used at least some of the same engines as well - but I don't remember any model numbers.

The stroke is 32 mm on all, the bore/cc sizes are 40 mm/40.2 cc, 42 mm/44.3 cc and 44 mm/48.7 cc.
