From your mention of pressure testing the case and seals it sounds like you are familiar with the basics required for doing this repair. An aftermarket kit like Cut4Fun suggested would be a great alternative if you are willing to tackle the job yourself. I have to say that the guy at the saw shop does have a point IF you are buying genuine parts and paying shop rates for labor.
