Look around and find the best kit. I cant find the one I am looking for that Mitch said is a good one.

In addition to whatever you decide to do as far as a kit, be sure that you check or update your intake seal to the metal clamp style.  If your saw has one, check to see if its tight.  Sometimes they pop open and unsnap.  There cheap, so just buy a new if you need to.  You must put it on before you bolt down the cylinder, at least in my experience.  Very, very hard to get it on if you don't.  The early 340's and all other 300 series were sealed with a inferior plastic black clamp arrangement that were prone to loosing up and sucking air causing a lean condition, and over time scoring your piston.  If you have one, don't take a chance if you have the early black one.   Its a cheap upgrade.   The "bay" is full of good used OEM 345 cylinders if your on a budget.  It will give you a little power boost as well.  Anything else is a bit more complex and a bit more money.  Either way, I trust you can do it.  You have all us here to help if you have questions.

My true experience with chainsaws came from 38 years of power line work,,retired now... Clearing fallen trees from lines and dismantling broken poles because of "midnight drunks". I acquired this saw from a co-worked that was killed on the job recently. His estate owed and I picked up one of his saws at a low price..I knew it did no run well but did fire up...should be repairable... In the grand scheme of be repairable,,NO Case to split..I discovered this as I am wondered alone down the path to repair...My hick-up is,,old saw and what after market parts are compatible. Why the toasted piston and cylinder,, Sam knew saws,,anyone "could" grab the wrong fuel can in hast..failing seal,,running lean,,,bouncing ideas and guessing between my ears...SO yes,, MY indent is to replace intake and crank seals..check crank bearings,,Being retired,,wallet not as firm as in the past...so after market is most likely..I don't need fire wood,,just an easy way to remove fallen tree limbs to big to tot...The idea of an electric chain saw ,,just wrong ! wrong ! wrong !...  Wild262 Bad intake seal ,,a definite yes to your train of thought... Ebay supplier have some parts yet may lack other items I suspect I'll need on hand for rebuild.
