Husky 346xp
« on: February 17, 2014, 10:34:52 am »
Does the 346 share the same case as a 350 or 353 and is the case the same as a 2152 and 2153. Have a 346 crankcase that is busted up pretty good and thinking on rebuilding it first step is trying to find some crankcase halves to replace what I have. Either red or orange it does not matter to me.

The 353 crankcase is the same

The 350 has a plastic case with a self contained clamshell engine unit. There is an adapter on the 350 clamshell that would allow you to use your 346 piston and cylinder in the saw.

Will the crank from the 346 work in the 350 clamshell. Also was thinking on building this one red and black, but I will take what I can afford.

I don't think so.

Though the piston/cylinder of the 346 will work perfect in the 350 crankcase, 350's are known for the muffler coming loose and burning a hole in the oil tank.

Also when messing with old 350's it is best to replace the carb intake boot and clamp assembly as the old ones come loose and leak.

346 OE is 42MM equivalent Stihl is 024
NE is 44.3MM equivalent Stihl is MS260.
