Husky 455 Rancher Clutch Cover
« on: August 19, 2014, 12:06:29 pm »
Ran across 2 PN for 455 Rancher clutch covers.  544-6979-01 and 537-2863-01.  I know the 544 is for a RancherII.  My question is will the 544 cover work in place of the 537 cover?  Haven't checked all the parts but brake band is the same in both is why I think it might work.  537 isn't RB'd by the 544 PN.

husqvarna 455 rancher 537286301 2 bar studs  http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/husqvarna/husky-455-rancher-clutch-cover/msg44956/?boardseen#new

455 RANCHER II (2012-06)   544097901    looks like the newer 1 bar stud system used.  I doublt the older one above will work on the newer one or vice versa.   http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=husqvarna&mn=455+RANCHER+II+%282012-06%29&dn=7044_0011

Looking for one to convert 357/359 to 455 cover.  All you have to do is remove the adj from the 357/9 bolt on 455 cover.  No more hunting adj. screw slot on 359.

I had seen that thread and liked that idea too.  Thats is one thing I never cared for on my 357 346 saws, was the adjuster.

Almost none of the external parts interchange between the Rancher and Rancher II. I think the only one that is the same is the gray top handle. Tank, top, starter, and clutch cover are all different.

The anticipated changes to the rancher line up should be happening soon. The originals may be going away, and the 460 II and/or 465 II should be arriving. Specs for both of them have been in the 455 II owners manual since the get go. Should be interesting saws, but the big question is still pricing. If they get too close to the 555/2258 it will be a tough sell.

Just as long as they beat the Stihl's 391's price performance... (Had a funny conversation on the hill last evening! One of the guy's looked at my 350 fugly saw a said..."I see you like the second best saw builder..." In jest of course... so I answered, who's the first? He said.. you know...  Stihl! And I answered.. "The most impressive thing that Stihl has ever done is figure out how to cut wood with plastic! And get people to BUY that concept"..  )

They've sold several "concepts" that I find entertaining. But regardless of how much plastic those saws use, they are reliable work horses.

I pretty much never find comments like he made to be "in jest" though, and I never like to initiate conversations with that type of humor. Guys aren't necessarily looking for an argument, but they are still saying that your brand of saw isn't as good as their's is. So the slight/insult is there none the less. So, now it's up to you to respond to whatever degree you choose to take the bait. It was said of John Adams that he never turned down an invitaion to an argument, and I'm afraid the same can be said of me. :)

Thankfully, there is very little of that on this site, and that's why it's such a pleasure to hang out here. Most everyone has plenty of respect for the various brands of saws that are our favorites. GREAT bunch of guys here!
