I was told by a supposedly reputable source the Stihl is not the #1 seller in Germany, Dolmar is #1. However I have unable to verify this.

Yeah but either way, none of it matters that much. Stihl is the best selling brand, but Husky beats them if you include Jonsered, Poulan and whatever other brands they have. Every company will choose the yardstick by which they measure up the best.

But none of that affects how any of our own saws run, regardless of which brand we have.

And.......it's about time I head outside and run a couple!

They've sold several "concepts" that I find entertaining. But regardless of how much plastic those saws use, they are reliable work horses.

I pretty much never find comments like he made to be "in jest" though, and I never like to initiate conversations with that type of humor. Guys aren't necessarily looking for an argument, but they are still saying that your brand of saw isn't as good as their's is. So the slight/insult is there none the less. So, now it's up to you to respond to whatever degree you choose to take the bait. It was said of John Adams that he never turned down an invitaion to an argument, and I'm afraid the same can be said of me. :)

Thankfully, there is very little of that on this site, and that's why it's such a pleasure to hang out here. Most everyone has plenty of respect for the various brands of saws that are our favorites. GREAT bunch of guys here!
well said!
Ron
