I'd dump that mix from all the saws. To go that far around it was way hot to score that much of the oil was being washed by water in the fuel. The ones I had you couldnt delete the gasket on without machine work. You could make a gasket from a beer can.

This looked like an asbestos gasket (I'm sure that isn't what they are made of now)....but you think it isn't needed?

I guess if I were in a pinch and being impatient I could get some of that RTV gasket maker stuff and smear it on but frankly I'd just rather have the gasket unless saws are just that forgiving.

OK just ordered the gasket kit.  Only really need one of them I believe since the saw is new and only the crank case to cylinder gasket is shot but I ordered the kit and a new measure for mixing fuel.

I'll dump the old fuel, mix a new batch with premium (read somewhere that low octane fuel (was the Husky repair manual actually) can also cause the above problem as well as lean mix but my guess is the heat of running the saw hard without breaking it in was the real issue.  Probably also run non ethanol fuel...heck, maybe I'll buy premix for the first few tanks.

There's not been enough clearance to just use sealer. You need about .008-.010" of gasket to clear. I'll edit that post above. It was supposed to be couldn't delete the gasket.

Ahhh gotcha.  Got the gasket coming and will wait the couple days before finishing the build.  Then I'll get some 40:1 pre-mix and run it on that first.

That will be fine for fuel. Need to set it up richer than it was before. I just noticed it isn't auto tune. I think the problem was tune and not the pushing it.

Actually it is an Autotune or at least that's what I thought when I bought it a month or so ago

Agree w/mdavlee.  Look @ carb. it's not autotune has H/L screws.  I think it was tuned too lean when you got it.  I break mine in a little fat(rich) and run em like I stole it.  Never had a problem.

Did you buy this new?

Man I sold a used saw and had to go through A-Z with the new owner.  I even topped the tank off oil off. Gave a 1 gal mix for 40:1. When through start up, cold, hot, fast idle. Chain brake operation. Chain adjusting, chain and bar on'off.  How to sharpen chain.
I adjusted carb and told them if unsure when they run their mix bring back and I will adjust for them.

I know when I bought 2 new saws the dealer just handed me the saws. But of course he ask me questions about saws etc. ;)

DOH!

I guess I assumed it was Autotune (thought they all were now) but when I went back and looked it is NOT.  It's the 576XPW rather than the 576 XPW AT.

I bought it from Bailey's and it was in a box.....so now I guess I have to learn how to tune the thing too ;)  Shouldn't be an issue and I saw something in the book about tuning it.

Live and learn (from what I hear the non auto tunes are better anyway ;) )
