Turn that H screw CCW some before you fire it up again. P

Making progress!  Spent 90 minutes or so screwing around with the carb (getting it back in) but managed to get it done...

Thought I had it but noticed the choke wasn't working.  If you look closely you'll see why...


Aha!  Had to take things apart to figure out what I missed.  The choke lever wasn't set into the body where it was supposed to be!



Ok working now!


Time to get the chain break figured out....

Hmmm....ok I am lost.  Going to have to look at the diagrams etc to see how this all goes back.  Once it's back I can finish the assembly, put in the 40:1 pre-mix I bought and richen up the carb.

Question:  Do you re-torque the heads on these little guys after break in like a car? I just made everything hand tight but need to see if there are some torque specs and then likely will need an inch/lbs wrench as I think mine are all foot pounds for cars etc....but hey, new tools are cool

Hmmm....$1.66 on ereplacement parts and ready to ship if I can't find this spring.  I looked again today and could not locate it.  It doesn't appear to have followed the path of the small keeper it rests inside (#18 on the pic) which I found a few feet away under a shelf.  I've moved everything from the area to no avail.  My fear is that it may have bounced into something or lodged into a crevasse or something else making it near impossible to find.  So what to do?  I'll look some more but if I don't find it by this afternoon I'll order a replacement and then decide if I want to fire the saw up without it just to see if all is well???

I'm assuming it's best not to run the saw without the B&C on?  But I'm not sure why that would be.  After all, it's just a B&C and without it I should be able to at least run the saw a short time to ensure it runs.

It Lives!!!!!!

First run (ok 1st through 4th as I ran it a short time, shut it down, ran it again, shut it down, got my camera out and took some vid (1st half of video) then shut it off, waited a short minuted or two and ran it again (2nd half).  Looks like it's burning off some oil (probably the stuff I used to lube everything prior to assembly as well as maybe some that was in the muffler from me topping it off with oil in my attempt before rebuilding to build up compression to see what happened).

So far so good.  Need to get the B&C back on but need to find that darn spring first!

NOTE:  I did not WOT it at all.  Just a few blips about 1/3rd to 1/2 throttle.  Don't want to do anything stupid yet

My hope is to get it back fully together so I can now test it out on some small stuff and get it hot.  Don't want to just idle it as I can't imagine that's good for it to do for long periods.

Running it on 'True Fuel' premix (all I could find at Lowes when I was there that was in 40:1 -- Husky pre-mix is all 50:1 and I want to run 40:1 for now).
