Wondering what's the best approach for a mild mod-- opening up the stock hole and welding an extender on the hood, cutting a "Mr Bill" through the mount, or nozzles out the front? I could see advantages to having something that could be capped if you didn't need the extra power or wanted to keep the noise down. 80% of the port looks to be about 5/8 square inches.
I've done a bit of searching, but would appreciate specifics from those of you who've done it.

The last 346 I done I went straight out the front through the muffler bracket. Just have to watch long extended cuts with muffler up against dry stuff.

I also like the one using the husky 288 deflector on the side.

I cant weld the stock deflectors back, so I never have just opened up one from there and then welded stock or new hood back.

All 3 work and you just have decide what you want IMO and can do.

I have a 346XP E-tech. I haven't taken a good look at the Cat muffler, but if modding it appers too complicated for my limited skills & tools, I plan to work out a swap deal with one of the saw builders that I trust.
