You won't be able to adjust the H or L screw without a special tool. I have a 142 and it has the spline adjustment screws. You can but them from eBay. I have been told that a piece of fuel line that will fit tightly on the screw will work, but I used needle nose pliers to turn them a couple times to set right and left them since.  Has it been left with fuel in it? Mine is from around 2008 also and started not idleing right last fall. Think it may be time for a carb kit because it was flawless until recently.
