I did the following twice: removed brake band, assembly link, spring and gray brake band cover held by 3 screws

I cant find a workshop manual for the 235 so I used a similar one for the 340 I think.

Once disassembled I greased the slot spring goes into, put the link assembly into the housing and moved link so that brake band was engaged. I slipped spring over the white plastic pin and compressed spring with flat screwdriver and popped it down into its slot. While holding spring I installed brake band cover without fully tightening the 3 screws and then used brake handle as a wrench to turn the 3 prong cog and disengage the brake band, fully tightening the 3 screws, installed clutch cover.

Once installed the gap isnt too bad, but after I engage/disengage brake first time then the gap is more noticeable.

Not sure what it is that is causing this, followed the shop manual & ipl. Not sure if its normal or safe to use so trying to figure it out. If I find out I will update.
