Never mind the 42 246 IPL answered my question.   Some of the web info was wrong again in my searching.  http://s30387.gridserver.com/partsDiagrams/Husqvarna%20246.pdf

New 5000 pistons are getting like hens teeth.

old iron logging = Art had used a 246 piston in a 5000 with good results. I cant remember all that he had said, but it is in a thread.

I have not put one in a closed port yet. Works great in a 500/5000 open port saw. Need to order a new piston for a 5000+.

My fastest 2  woods ported and race ported 5000+ used closed port cylinders and  the bridge was removed to make them open port. Copy of Marcel Vincent alky 5000 cylinder. MVP had done the same thing in that 166 cylinder in the race saw.

On these cyls with the bridges cut out I have a question. Did they leave the lower transfers alone or open them into the case?

I had a pic but it is lost.  They were opened all the way down into crankcase with bridges taken out.
