Does it split open, after you take the handle off? Need to get to the bearings.

Stihl 250?

Ultimately you need to completely disassemble the chainsaw to get to the bearings.
Remove the top cover, chain cover, chain, and the starter assembly cover.
Now is time to remove the clutch assembly. The clutch mechanism has left hand threads. Then remove the flywheel.
Remove the brake handle
The handle comes off next then the muffler.
Ignition coil and carburetor
Remove the clamshell type engine assembly.
Remove the bearing cap from the bottom of the engine assembly and lift out the (crankshaft, bearings, seals, rod, & piston as they will all be fastened together)
Take off the seals and you'll possibly need a puller to remove the bearings. The worm for the oil pump drive is in the way of the clutch side bearing.
Being as you are pulling the piston out, it should have new rings going back in!
You will need new seals as well as bearings.
The bearing cap doesn't have a gasket. You use Stihl Dirko or 1194 sealer on the mating surfaces.

GOOGLE doesn't have any hits on a Husqvarna 250 rancher. It comes up as Stihl MS250 instead. There are hits on a Husqvarna 55 & 450, 455
