Oh Yeh! Got one waiting. Can't hardly wait just got too many in front (couple of 272's,261,254's,242's,42's,44's and Dolmar 5100,510w/5100 p&c). Just to mention a few.  Hobby turned into excessive compulsive disorder or CAD and more Husky parts than my local Husky dealer.

I bought it real cheap and was going to flop it but i kinda want to know what they run like. It needs a new piston and ring, muffler, and clutch cover, as far as i can see.

I doubt it will leave your possession once you get it running. They are a nice saw with a GREAT sound. They are a little heavy but well worth the weight.

288's are still very much missed by the guys that used to run them. Probably the most enduring loyalty of any Husky. They were a tough saw that took a fair amount of physical abuse. The first saw in that family was the 181, which I believe came out in 1982. The 288 was still being sold in the US up until 2002 and they are still being made in other parts of the world. Not a bad track record.

Thanks for all the good info. I may have to slide that 288 to the front of the ''to do'' list. ;)

There is a thin washer missing that goes behind the worm gear. Does someone have a part number for that washer? I know that it works on a 394 also. Thanks in advance.
