I've started off with a lot less (just 2 bare case halves before).

Nice find Kevin, 1st year 1989 model .......should be worth a few bucks as a collector saw with a little tender love and care.
My buddy Franz just scored a 3120 with only 8 hrs on it complete with a bench Log O Sol mill all for a $1000.   Lucky guy, Franz is a retired logger with a good sized woodlot acerage, he'll be busy for a while.

I had one thing in mind for it when I seen it and  it wont end up as restore.    ;)    It's going straight to a builder for a stroked crank etc.

I kinda figured you were going to do that  8)
That's a project I can't wait to get into too,.............I almost got my saw workshop done, the electrician is just finishing hooking up the 100 amp service panel today and I should have my workbench in tomorrow.

Not for me. I'm just to slow of a operator.
These new 66mm bore with 4mm to 6mm stroked cranks are just way to fast, IF you use the right builder.  ;) Heck I couldnt handle the one I had. But willing to help those in the search for speed.  ;)

What if i told you today that i found a crankcase and crank that gives 44mm stroke and with a bit of machining will accept the 090 cylinder and give you 148cc .... physical size of the cylinders is very close to each other

Whoo hoo and i was gonna buy a 3120 with an already weak bottom end no need to now ..... now to try and hide it all inside a standard saw ............ what this space ............ McBob.

P.S. And the donner saw well you can go and work it out for yourselfs

stock stroke 44mm. Bet you meant 43mm for the saw (090's been going on them too)  :D.  stock 3120 stroke is 42mm.  :D

I could tell you one with 48mm stroke oem hint hint and uses 090 tops and has already been done in the past.  :P :P :D
