Wow, are we talking the "Centralia, where  fires are burning under the surface - that is an amazing place; you can kiln dry your firewood just by placing it on the ground  :o

That 404 9 you posted would be like running a 3/8 10.  Lets see your 3120 and is it a stock 3120?

Yes, it's a completely stock standard 3120XP, but lets face it, it's a full 118cc of raw unstoppable (Husqvarna Xtra Performance) cutting power, and it's only spinning .404 chain on a tiny 24 inch bar.

I've just ordered the 9T .404 rim sprocket and will make a full report when it's been installed on the saw and given a decent test run.

Having 26% more chain speed (over a 7T) is an appealing thought. If it translates into 26% faster cutting time, i'll be a happy chappy  ;D

Well now in no way discrediting this raw "unstoppable power "you will soon find out if you haven't already that you can reach a point it's not unstoppable .

I've had my hot little hands on just about every large displacement saw ever made  including a 3120 Husqvarna and they all will reach a limit where taller gearing doesn't help them .

Even if you soup that thing to the max with a stock crankshaft what you'll  end up doing is breaking a crankshaft or breaking a rod .Then it's all for naught .
