No compression! Something is definitely wrong with the assembly of the saw or the compression tester you are using!

Just for kicks try this, sit the saw on the floor, grab it by the pull start handle and nowhere else, then pick the saw up by the pull start handle. If you can do this without the starter cord coming out more than a couple of inches (e.g. when the engine comes up on compression) chances are that the compression gauge you are using is either faulty or the wrong type. It should have a hose that screws into the spark plug hole with an o-ring seal and a valve in the center.

If when you try to pick up the saw by the starter handle the saw just sits there on the floor, you have a huge leak! Most probably something caught under the cylinder flange or a mis-positioned gasket.

See the post by Shep! What he describes could/will result in no compression, and yes I did the same thing once a 47mm piston in a 48mm jug and got the same results you are getting.

I ordered rings for 45mm and received 359 47mm rings instead.

I wanted to see what their afm rings were for 353 for $3.31 compared to $12plus for oem ............ . Got 2 rings and thought cool. Then noticed 47mm not cool.    ............   http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/ported-saws/47mm-1-5mm-rings/msg18475/#msg18475

Off topic here, but I thought I saw a "45" on the cylinder of the 353 saw in your shop the other day?

I'm thinking the "44" doesn't have transfer covers?

New spark plug.

I guess I'll take it apart and check the rings.

The replacement piston was from Husqvarna,

Any opinion on after market Chinese parts?
Thanks to all who help.

Some of these saws had a automatic decompression valve. These automatic valves were nothing but trouble in the long run as they would tend to stay in the release mode.

It is best to remove the automatic decompression system and plug or replace with a manual decompression valve.

The 357 had the auto decomp and the 335/338T still do but no 350's in this market anyway.

To have no compression is almost impossible.  Scored cylinder and stuck decomp should still get you 60ish.  Wrong piston would give next to no comp though.

Show us a pic of the top of the cylinder or look for 44 or 45 stamped on top.
