I have a couple rolls of 3M aluminum tape. I've used it as reflector foil. Looks the same as factory pieces.

Finished putting back together. Cleaning out compacted oiled saw dust and adjusting everything as I went.  Made or shall I say tried making test cuts. Chain just barely grooved wood and just felt like spinning on wood.  Took in put in vise and gave a quick touch up. Man what a freaking difference.
Why do people cut with chain like this till where there is nothing happening.

Man had a good one dropped off last night  :o.  Guy said he only used it once and bought it used PHO for $40. Now it wont start and stay running.

I ask him if he had looked for the norm stuff on these and he didnt know about them.  First thing I do is show him big goob off stuff under muffler. Hmmm pull muffler and 1 cylinder bolt is stripped held in with JB sort of  I think.  Get muffler off and there it is big patch on the entire area under muffler with JB.

Also seen dents all over the flywheel outer areas and goobs of JB on it. Dont know how the JB was clearing the coil gap myself, unless it was just missing off to side.

Then I pull top cover and see plastic clamp and the intake area showing shiney area where the boot has slide back forth and warped.  Lucky for him piston had just start 1 score streak right in middle.

So that was where we stopped till he told me yeah go ahead and go through it.

I had a OEM metal clamp fail with me over the weekend trimming treetops with my 345.  Got this saw year ago, and tore it down to put a OE 346 P/C on and decided to just run it stock because it looked so good.  Anyway I put the upgraded intake kit on. Cut a lot of wood with it afterwards.   Was running saw last Sunday and noticed it changing tune, and chain running after throttle let off. It was getting worse after a few more cuts so I  put it down and grabbed another backup saw.  Looked at it that night, pulled plug and it was almost white.  I found where the metal tab broke off in the middle on the intake.  Boot was loose again.  Never had a metal one to fail like that.  Nor have I heard of any.  Its going to get a 372 clamp when I get time to mess with it.   Just a "heads up" to all to be advised.   :)

A well deserved credit to your awareness as to the change in sound, inspection, and clamp replacement to save your chainsaw.

This thing is like finding candy. But not in a good way. Further I go the more little things I find wrong.

Hole in primer bulb and hole in primer line to carb. Plastic intake clamp warped as I knew from get go.  I pulled 110psi but looks fine and ring not stuck. Maybe ring wore but piston dont look that wore on intake side etc at all.
The big ole redneck oil tank patch. I like that one.   ;D

Working on pics.

Wow!!! Gruesome looking repair!!

Guy paid $40 for it PHO and put a 18" on it.

I think he is going to  trade it in. Told him I would credit his $40 toward a another saw if he didnt want to sink the money in it to repair.  IMO it would be wise but not my call.
