Your running a stock saw right not modded.  I wouldnt worry about squish on stock saw unless your wanting to start modding it.  Base gasket delete, muffler mod, porting etc.
Heck I quit even doing base gaskets deletes. Wood never even notices. ;)

.060 had to measure twice to believe.  I bought it with a scorched piston/cylinder.  Have the cylinder cleaned up and a new Meteor piston.  Going to do a pressure test and inspect the intake boots.  It does have the metal clamp.

I purchased it to keep from beating up my 346xp's

(Bump)

I really like my 353.  Not as sexy as her faster sister, but a reliable, versatile saw.  More Ford Taurus; less Ford Mustang.

I just did a similar oil leak remediation on a Jonsered 2152 (which is how I got linked to this thread).  Had the split / 2-piece oil line.  Cleaned off the oil, then cleaned again with acetone, then sealed with Permatex Ultra Black silicone gasket/sealant where the pieces meet the metal oil pump, and around the 'O'-ring seal where it enters the tank.

Hope it works! (not my personal saw, so it may take a while to get feedback on the results).

Philbert

Let us know how it works out, Philbert. My 2152 has been leaking oil since pretty much the day I bought it (the dealers response at first was "it's just excess oil coming out of your sawdust chips". When I brought it back in after thoroughly cleaning it, then still seeing the oil puddle, his response was "some of them just do that. Not much you can do about it.")

I have not gotten around to poking around on it myself (Shame on me. I've had it for more than 10 years.) Did the Permatex Ultra Black seem like best the thing to use, or was it just what you happened to have around?

My 2152 has been leaking oil since pretty much the day I bought it  . . .Did the Permatex Ultra Black seem like best the thing to use, or was it just what you happened to have around?
This was one 3 Jonsered saws that belong to a volunteer storm clean up group, and this one noticably leaked much more oil than normal, or than the other 2 saws. I thought something might have been broken, or that the pressure plate along side the guide bar might have been installed wrong, etc.

Looked around on-line and saw that this seems to be a common issue with many similar saws.  Was really easy to do, following all of the good directions and clear photos; took much less time than trying to troubleshoot it on my own! (Thanks guys - really helpful!)

The 'original' video, I saw posted on another site, was made by a guy in Europe, and mentioned 'Hylomar' blue (a European brand). I went to a local auto parts store, and looked at the different types of Permatex that they had.  The 'Ultra Black' tube said 'maximum oil resistance', so I went with that, even though the counter guy said that the only difference between that, and the blue Permatex stuff, was color.

Apparently, the Hylomar is non-setting (won't glue the parts together?).  If the Permatex has to be cut off (?) then, at worst, I would have to replace the hoses that I would replace anyway. I used just a thin layer to seal - not looking to fill gaps (have lots left over, if you want me to squeeze some into an envelope and mail it to you).

Ha! thanks for the offer Philbert. Actually, I need some of the non-setting stuff for another application anyway (making a gasket for the fill cap on a toy steam engine). So I'll try to figure out what the US equivalent of the Blue Hylamar is.

If I am reading the info right in thread. This husky 353 with no primer bulb should be 2007 or older.  Also has the metal oem clamp.

I gave it 4-5 days hoping it would sell before I checked back. It hadnt sold. Soooooo

When your in a new husky shop and something catches your eye.
One of the workers said he bought a 562 in 2015 and hadnt used it since, So he was selling his other saw. OE without the primer bulb/
Even though it wasnt a 346 I didnt care. Even has the updated oem metal clamp already.

Will do everything a 346 will do, only a bit slower.  Good all around saw.
