The biggest problem with the HDA-199 is with people using the wrong carb repair kit.

The correct kits are the K24-HDA for the complete kit and D24-HDA for just the diaphragms.

People have trying to use the K22-HDA & D22-HDA kit in these and the carb no longer works.

The HDA-199 has a unique vent set-up for the metering diaphragm and to use the wrong parts will prevent the metering valve from working properly.
Thanks to Scott (TreeMonkey) for giving us all the heads up!!

I'm just starting to get a pile of 357's in the shop with carb issues.....That's a great video.

I will be looking at making the mods in this thread...Good stuff!

Am I understanding Scott right....You can use the K22HDA kit as long as you vent the metering cover, or do you still need to punch the extra hole in the gasket and diaphragm?

You can drill a hole in the steel cover, or punch a hole in the gasket, or use the K(D)24-HDA kit

I have a 357xp with the problem Walbro, but have never had any problems. Saw runs and cuts Great! I love it!

If I do ever have problems, I'll just send the carb to Scott. Actually I have an extra one here I should just go ahead and send...

Another thanks to everybody for all the info, I just ordered a kit for my walbro carb.  Hopefully I can rebuild and replace my 199 and it will run like it did before on my 359. Thanks again for the info and the video. ;D

Might also post in for sale section too.  Folks ask me for saws for sale at other places and I point them there.
