Husqvarna 365 seal turns
« on: February 06, 2018, 12:35:25 am »
Hi all, just installed a genuine seal into my 365. It went in very easily so I thought I’d check to see how it was seated and it turns with the crank. Not sure if I’ve done anything wrong or if the crankcase is shot. What are my options here? If any?

Did you replace crank bearings too?  Did the crank bearing go in tight. Had them turn in crankcase too.  You can see if the pockets have any turning in them.

Was you using oem seals?

Used oem seals and replaced the bearings . I heated up the crankcase so the bearings weren’t too tight.
Should I try another seal?

I would and also make sure to lube the seal lips (not the outer metal) and crank with 2 stoke mix. That is what I do.

Put some Yamabond or other sealer that is made for 2cycle engine crank cases around the outside of the seal when you install it.

If that seal is turning you could also have a small air leak from it too.

What I would do is pull the seal.   Put some 2 stroke oil on the rubber part of the seal so it slides on the crank nice a smooth.
On the outside metal part of the seal put a sealer and not RTV on it to prevent any air leaks.    Make sure the crankcase where the seal goes and the outside of the seal are both clean before putting the sealer on it and installing.   Let it dry for 24 hours.
