The coils on these saws can cause an erratic idle problem. The ignition advance is supposed to kick in at about the same RPM as clutch engagement. In some cases it seems that the advance can come in a little sooner. Combine that with a static idle adjustment that's a little too high, and the idle surges up and down and drives you nuts. It has nothing to do with the mixture screws, and messing with them just adds to the confusion.

I was cutting with a buddy on Saturday and his new 365/372 was doing this exact thing. The idle was only at 3400 and the coil was wigging out with the advance coming and going. Turned it down to 2800-2900 and the idle smoothed right out.

Also, the old unlimted coil can be used in these new XT saws regardless of which coil/carb combo they came with.

First two cuts in video are with OE coil.  Last is unlimited.  They do act funny from time to time.
