The 371XP came from the factory with a unlimited ignition

The unlimited OEM coils for these were black

Along about 2004 they started putting blue 13,500 rpm blue coils in 372's

This family of saws gets along very well with rhe 13,500 coil.

Some blue coils like with the 350 were only 13000 rpm

Other blue coils with the 346XP New edition were 14000 rpm

Some of these coils carried a different Husqvarna part number due to the length of the plug wire.

With the blue coils, the limiting rpm is stamped on them.

One thing worth mention about the 371xp is that the early ones had a different intake to the cylinder, compared to the later ones, and of course the 372xp and other models.

I don't like the idea of the early bolt on intakes.

I don't own any Husqvarnas with a bolt on intake.

My 371 actually has a 372 cylinder with a 2 ring piston that someone put on it before me. But it still has the chain adjuster in the crankcase. Bow bar. I have a extra 371 cylinder that uses the rubber boot and a single ring piston for it but never put them on.

I have a Dolmar 115i and a 6800i with bolt on intakes and the old style Mahle window piston loop style two port transfers. They are great saws.

My Stihl 660/066 also have the window piston - 2 port loop style transfers. They run great too.

Jim why don't you like the bolt on intakes?  The early 365 had one too IIRC (can't remember which intake the 362 had).  Just curious    I prefer bolt on intakes over 'spigot'/clamp on style intakes.  Bolt on intakes have been less troublesome for me (in general...............I don't have much experience with the bolt on intakes on this specific saw series).  Actually.................I'm not a fan of intake boots in general.  Just one more rubber point of failure.  I like bolted on carbs (such as what are on my 1/2 series Huskies and my various North American saws).  My AV Macs have intake boots that are screwed/clamped down on both ends.

It's just a matter of time value. Seen all those Huztl aftermarket cylinders with the bolt on intakes.

I have four 365 Specials. They are all rubber boot intakes. No different from a 372 except the air cleaner and bore.

I also have a 362 and it is also a rubber boot. It has the small Husqvarna K095 bar mount and inside chain adjuster. It runs very nice too.

I have two 45cc Homelite Chinese saws. One is bolt on and the other is rubber boot. I think the bolt on is the better saw but either one only runs half the speed of a Stihl ms250.

Agree 100%. They are so much easier to work on IMO. (Referring to the 272,281\288,2100)
Good info on the early 365 and 371's. I was unaware they were made without the boot. I have not seen one yet.
