If I may recommend going to Baileys and buy there 52mm big bore kit for $99. I put one on mine about 8 months ago and I noticed a  ton more power in the bottom end. It is NiSi coated and they give you a 1 year warranty with it.

One thing I found when I was working on my 372 was the 371 single ring piston had a skirt that was about 4mm wider than the 2 ring.
They may not all be that way but the ones I found were.

OEM or aftermarket = AFM later on

Meteor has a good looking 1 ring 372 piston. Anyone used it yet?

Some AF pistons have a very thin skirt. Then there's the MAKO big bore kit that I have with a real beefy looking piston.

OEM pistons should all be about the same thickness.

thickness of the skirt makes a big difference  mainly by how the piston grows under heat from running , the ratio of growth to the jug needs to be pretty much the same or you end up with either to much piston to jug clearance or not enough
