Some chainsaws are compelled to make the ding ding ding sound in the clutch when idling.  I have one myself.

But I've never had one to do it by pulling the chain through the clutch.

The sound could be in the oil pump drive wing?

The oil pump is driven by the clutch drum

you guys are good, the oil pump drive was worn on the corners so the clutch drum was skipping over it.Replaced oil pump driver and ringing is gone. One question though, how did the oiler continue to work?

I think the drive was rattling back and forth in the slot?
