What is the general opinion of this saw? Has anyone here owned one for a while to give their opinion? How does this saw compare power wise to the regular 372 XP? Can this saw be modded very easily?

I have been cutting timber most of my life and run the 365/372 xt mostly , I like mine very much as they produce real good torque and better than the 372 xp , they may not be as good as a cookie cutter as the xp but for true working in the bush I prefer the xt or xp and I pretty much can have any saw out there and this is what I run, I also run the 562 the 550 and the 390 xp

I converted a 365XT to a 372XT by switching out the transfer port covers. The two saws are the same except for the TP covers! You can also NIX the base gasket without any problems.

I am VERY pleased with the saw!

do you have to use an xtorq piston of will a standard 372 piston work? I have a 2011 model 365 xtorq with screwed up head and piston. ive only ever honed out 1 cylinder before not sure if this one is saveable. now that I cleaned it up it looks like a possibility to save it but I can only find a 51mm hone on baileys and not a 50mm. any advice?

I think that cylinder could be saved.  I have fixed much worse just by doing it by hand and no chemicals used.  I dont use hones either.

its hard to see but theres a pretty deep gouge from muffler port to top dead center.

I always played it by if I could hand a finger nail on it after cleaned up then it was no go.  Depending on the saw it was for.

Get a meteor 75 cc big bore cylinder and piston kit($130) and you'll have a powerful new saw.

Both the 365&372 X-Torq saws use the same piston because in reality they are the same saw just as said earlier only the transfer port covers are different. You are correct that the 365SP/XP used a 48mm piston and the 372XP used a 50mm but both the X-Torq saws use the same piston.

Yep.  I think I see it too.  Below ex. port looks like it should clean up no problem.
