Husqvarna 372
« on: February 24, 2011, 03:14:24 pm »
I took this 372 in trade and noticed a little more oil was coming from the clutch area then i thought it should. After inspecting there was a fine crack under bar plate where the old style bolt adjuster would have been in crankcase. This is where the bar oil is seeping when running and under pressure.

I need to get a close up pic to you guys can see.

Any ideas on sealing? I'm thinking a fine coat of JB in crack or seal all.

I would slightly V out the crack, and then scrape it up real good around it, to give good adhesion for the JBWeld.

I'm going to clean the oil tank out real good and see what the crack looks like from the inside too. Then try and put some kind of sealer from the inside also.

Use some really nasty solvents and give it some good heating to burn out as much oil as possible before applying whatever sealant.

One possible to use in a fine crack like this is Locktite. Seap it in and seal with some tape for a while, Locktite hardens from lack of air.
