I had those that twich regardless as the springs had run hot and lost tension. With the ones with conventional spring and three shoes you generally have a lot higher rpm before it engages.

that very well may be. and I didn't read anywhere here that he changed the clutch or the springs. might be the next step. however it should be pretty easy to have a look at the clutch with the cover off and the saw running. if the springs are the culprit, you'll see the shoes hitting the drum at idle.
